CatchON TV on Samsung & LG Smart TV

You do not need a Firestick or a box to watch CatchON TV on a modern Samsung or LG television. A player from the TV’s own app store does the job. This guide takes about 10 minutes, most of it spent on a one-time activation.

Smart TV players work a little differently from phone apps. Instead of typing your login on the TV remote, you usually add your playlist on the player’s website from a phone or computer, using an ID shown on the TV screen. It saves a lot of clicking with the remote.

We use IBO Player Pro in the steps below because it is in both stores and easy to activate.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Open the app store on your TVOn Samsung, press Home and open Apps. On LG, open the LG Content Store.
  2. Install the playerSearch for IBO Player Pro, install it and open it.
  3. Write down the IDs on screenThe app shows a MAC address and a device key. Take a photo of the screen with your phone so you do not mistype them.
  4. Add your playlist onlineOn your phone or computer, open the player’s official website, sign in with the MAC address and device key, and add your CatchON TV playlist using the M3U link or the Xtream Codes details from your email.
  5. Restart the app on the TVClose the player and open it again. Your playlist appears on the home screen. Select it to load channels, movies and series.

Good to know: most Smart TV players offer a free trial and then ask for a small one-time activation fee. That fee goes to the app developer, not to CatchON TV, and it is separate from your subscription.

Is Your TV Supported?

Samsung TVs from about 2018 onwards (Tizen) and LG TVs running webOS 4.0 or newer work well. Older models may not have the app in their store. If yours does not, a Firestick or an Android TV box is an inexpensive way to add it.

Sony, Philips, TCL and Hisense TVs that run Android TV or Google TV follow the Android guide instead.

Tips for a Better Picture

  • Connect the TV with an Ethernet cable if you can. Smart TV Wi-Fi chips are often weaker than a phone’s.
  • Turn off motion smoothing in the TV picture settings for a more natural look on sport.
  • If the guide is empty, refresh the EPG from the player settings and give it a few minutes.
